No Waxwork For PM Gordon Brown
Madame Tussaud's has announced that British PM Gordon Brown will be the first incumbant Prime Minister for over 150 years not to be immortalised in wax for the World Leaders Zone.
Back in June 2007 when Mr Brown first took over as the Prime Minister, the waxwork museum baulked at the idea of making a model of him because he hadn't been elected into office and had mooted making a snap election and as models take around 6 months to make, it could have been concieved as a waste of time. When visitors started asking why he wasn't there, the museum chiefs decided to get in touch with Mr Brown's staff to ask when he could come in for a sitting. They didn't reply. Tussauds then decided to ask visitors to the museum and their website to vote on whether or not they should bother making a model of the latest PM. 83.3% (5,308 people) voted against a waxwork of Mr Brown whilst 16.2% (1,025 votes) said he should be included.
Chiefs have now been quoted as saying that even if Downing Street came calling that it's too late now, but, if Mr Brown should win the next general election, he would be given a second chance.
